“A major scientific breakthrough in back pain.”

“Common muscle strain”, (medically known as “benign back pain”) causes the overwhelming majority of all back pain.  In theory, simple muscle strain should be a rather straight-forward problem.  In actuality, it is extremely complex.

Opti-stretch is a new, scientifically-designed program to help understand the complex problem of “benign back pain” due solely to muscle strain.  Dr. Neil suffered 23 years with “severe” back strain problems.  This experience, combined with 16 years of formal scientific training, allowed for 12 new scientific discoveries.

Most importantly are:

1.  Chronically injured muscles can now be identified.  This is the reason why back pain frequently occurs in the same location, over and over again.

2.  Not everyone has the same anatomy of certain core muscles of the spine.  This previously well documented knowledge and the new Opti-stretch discoveries of additional anatomical variations helps to explain why certain individuals have more problems with back pain.  Also, it explains how back pain can be so complex and difficult to research .

 3.  Muscle tone has been more scientifically defined and can now be measured, just like muscle strength and muscle endurance.

             4.  In the low back, the psoas muscle complex is frequently strained and can lead to a functional shortening of the leg.  Protective spasm and accommodation by other larger core muscles increases the complexity of rehabilitating this strained muscle complex.

Stretching exercises are used as the primary tool in the Opti-stretch program.

The concept and utilization of stretching muscles dates back to Hippocrates, the father of medicine.  Implementation of these concepts is referred to as “movement therapy”.  Understanding the concepts of movement therapy” helps explain why different stretching and exercise programs have worked well for some, but not for others.

Stretching exercises can now be utilized as a screening test in order to detect asymmetry of muscle movement and “chronically injured muscles”.  Muscle asymmetry has shown to be a significant risk factor, which will increase the probability of another reoccurring strain to that particular muscle.

Stretching exercises and a technique, known as stretch receptor lengthening”, couple together to form the therapeutic phase, which can turn these chronically injured muscles into healthy, strain-resistant muscles.

A maintenance program emphasizes that there are many effective ways to warm up muscles and that daily stretching is not necessary.  However, periodic evaluation of the muscle tone is very important, especially as one ages.

Whether you have:

q       reoccurring back pain due to muscle strain

q       want to preserve muscle tone and high activity levels into advanced age

q       desire to protect your children from the needless disease of recurrent muscle strain

Is a program that can help

you

or

your child

have a healthy back for life!
